Lyrics:
Deck the hall with boughs of holly
Falalalala lala lala!
'Tis the season to be jolly
Falalalala lala lala!
Fill the meadcup, drain the barrel (Alt: Don we now our gay apparel)
Falala lalala la la la!
Troul the ancient Christmas carol
Falalalala lala lala!See the flowing bowl before us (Alt: See the blazing yule before us)
Falalalala lala lala!
Strike the harp, and join in chorus
Falalalala lala lala!
Follow me in merry measure
Falala lalala la la la!
While I sing of beauty's treasure (Alt: While I tell of Christmas treasure)
Falalalala lala lala!Fast away the old year passes
Falalalala lala lala!
Hail the new, ye lads and lasses
Falalalala lala lala!
Laughing quaffing all together (Alt: Sing we joyous all together)
Falala lalala la la la!
Heedless of the wind and weather
Falalalala lala lala!

The alternate lyrics, of unknown provenance, were first known to have been published in 1877, 15 years after the original English-language lyrics. By far the most popular variation of the song, they remove all reference to alcohol consumption.
