Alex Rosetti: (composer, Tumblr, excerpt)
I composed this one intending it to be the theme of Jade’s land. This is the reason Jit has gone on the record as saying Crystamenthequins was intended to accompany Jade’s island being destroyed/her entering her land (I’m pretty sure that’s how he described it) was because of this song. It’s actually a really simple tune, and I’ve wanted to expand on it for ages but never got around to it. The entire piece consists of the same simple chord progression, but it’s a good, if played out, progression. That and the beautiful harmonies one is guaranteed to find with it is why I think this is one of my more popular songs. It’s not as well-composed as I’d like it to be, but it is definitely catchy. And Radiation was responsible for the name, jokingly calling it “crystalanthemums” after I described it as sounding like a crystalline flower. I decided that was as good a name as any, and I’ve had the pleasure of infecting its two remixes with such silly-sounding titles.

here’s my entry for the volume 5 anthology! i was lucky enough to be able to draw for crystalanthemums! (do yourself a favor and check out everyone else’s AMAZING art and the video pls…)
i owe a HUGE thank you to the organizers, sollay, city, and ally, for inviting me to join and organizing the whole thing in the first place!!! i was so honored to be a part of this project! as a fan since 2012, it’s sort of been one of my dreams to draw art for a song!! i really can’t thank them enough for this amazing opportunity :’)
my thought process is below the cut!
crystalanthemums is my favorite song of volume 5, and one of my favorite hs songs in general. I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I GOT THE EMAIL SAYING I WAS DRAWING FOR CRYSTALANTHEMUMS IASFNNFM,FGD
as one of the most reoccurring motifs in newer songs, it serves as sort of a base that was built upon! the song itself is calming and a little bit melancholy, but it is also the beginning of many things that are truly excellent!
it was a mishmosh of ideas but i tried my best! i decided to draw jade falling from sky the after events of [s] jade: enter. in the flash, we see her entering lofaf with calm music as she looks up at the snow after a hell of a lot of explosions.
crystalanthemums’ melody sort of reminded to me the peace that comes after something exciting. you miss the adrenaline rush, but you don’t hate the quiet either. her entering the medium also marks the beginning of her journey through sburb, from island child to god!
her looking up at the dark sky, surrounded by a glowing aurora and snow that she’s never seen before… that sort of mystifying emotion!
not gonna lie, i felt a lot of pressure whilst making this! i was drawing for a song that had nearly 80,000 views on youtube… served as a building block for many amazing songs in the future… MY FAVORITE SONG THAT I’VE BEEN LISTENING TO SINCE 2012…. but i’m pretty happy with my result, and i hope you guys think it’s great too!!
