Artist commentary:
LizaWithAZed: (booklet commentary)
This album means a lot to me, for a lot of reasons. Not just because it represents literally months of planning, organization, rounds of messaging, upsets, drama, triumph and general hard work on the part of me and some very good friends of mine. Not just because we managed to get some of the top talent in the fandom to contribute not only music but track art. Not just because that talent includes music and art team members and the uniquely universally beloved superfan Dante Basco. Not just because that talent also includes many friends I love dearly, some of whom I got to know through this project.
No, this album is special to me because the original Land of Fans and Music holds a very dear place in my heart. It was the first album of Homestuck-related music I ever owned. I played it over and over, and read the album commentary until I damn near had it memorized. It was LoFaM which spurred me to stop lurking on the MSPA forums and dive headlong into the collective insanity we call Homestuck fandom. And right when I did so coincided with the start of the second fanmusic thread, and a guy named Underwater Basketweaving posting something he called Fighting Spirit. I downloaded it, loved it, and have been hip deep in collecting fanmusic - not just that already collected for my convenience in an album - ever since.
Fighting Spirit is in here, and its sequel, and many others I and my compatriots ran across in our scouring of not only the fanmusic thread but tindeck, soundcloud, tumblr and basically anywhere on the big wide internet where MSPA fans celebrate their love of this remarkable work of fiction through music.
It's my hope that, having gathered it all here for your convenience, you too are spurred to start your own search for the best, including many pieces that for one reason or another we had to leave off. The Land of Fans and Music is not just this 2-disc set or its predecessor; they're only the tip of the vast landscape of amazing talent. Come in. Explore. Get lost in it, like I did. I haven't regretted it for a second.

This is an interesting one. It's a fanart of a fanart! For those of you who don't know, for the past few months Lambda and LizaWithAZed in the Homestuck fandom have been rallying artists and musicians alike to put together a sequel to the unofficial fan album, Land of Fans and Music. Just recently Xzaz posted an update to the list of track art that was still needed, and I saw that cover art was needed. I was feeling particularly inspired that day, so I drew this on a whim, without really asking.
The composition is largely inspired by the original fanart that was the cover for the first Land of Fans and Music and also by one of the pages towards the end of the first half of Act 5 of the comic itself, with Terezi's house built up high and overlooking the Land of Thought and Flow. I was originally going to draw a Sburb player sitting on one of the roofs of the house overlooking LOFAM, but that idea eventually got scrapped in favor of keeping focus on the land itself.
The music at the very bottom of the drawing, near the two fans in the clouds, is actually taken directly the beginning of the right hand section of the sheet music of James Dever's Chronicles, albeit a little bit askew.
Overall I'm rather pleased with this piece! It was really interesting to draw and I feel that it's a worthy tribute to all the talented people I have met through this fandom. The music staves were a bit difficult to draw, but they were also pretty fun at the same time even though I had to put my tablet into precision mode just to get them to line up. This piece took me about two and a half to three hours and almost 40 layers not counting the texture layer to complete - the composition was surprisingly complex to work with, but the results were well worth it.
I did this without asking or without any warning that I was going to take on doing the LOFAM 2 cover, but if this is used as the official cover I won't have any complaints. Even if it's not used as the official cover, I won't be mad, because I at least greatly enjoyed drawing this.
The talented fan artists (musicians included!) that have all been an inspiration to me are a huge part of why this fandom is dear to me. Hopefully that fact has been well reflected in this artwork!

Late reblogging, but this is awesome and I'm honored that the Candles melody made the bottom!
I love our cover art, you guys, and I love everyone even remotely related with this project
